The guayusa tea leaf is native to the Amazon rainforest and harvested mostly in Ecuador. While Guayusa has been used by indigenous people for centuries, the leaf has recently gained popularity in the states because when brewed, it provides all-natural caffeine equivalent to about one cup of coffee.

The Guayusa tea leaf is native to South America and is mainly harvested between the Amazon Rainforest and the Andes Mountains in Ecuador.

Guayusa has high levels of the L-theanine amino acid. Outside studies suggest that L-theanine improves stress levels, and mood. Some studies even suggest that L-theanine boosts the immune system and may make it less likely to contract the flu or get a cold.
The properties of L-theanine generally cause for a smoother, more even release of caffeine throughout the body, which reduces energy spikes and drops often associated with caffeine consumption.

HOW WE STARTED
Alive Energy was founded by an LA based businessman and entrepreneur who stumbled upon guayusa tea while looking for a low-calorie drink to help him push through busy days. He tried it and liked the effect of the guayusa tea but knew he could make a better tasting and more refreshing drink. He started experimenting with recipes until he settled on what is now the unique Alive Energy flavor.
